Mask Mandate Lifted
Effective immediately, masks are no longer required for STA employees, riders on buses, Paratransit, or Vanpool, or visitors to STA facilities. However, masks are still welcome for anyone who chooses to wear one.
On April 18, 2022, both the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced a change to their policies regarding mandatory masking. There is no entity either requiring masking on public transportation or enforcing the prior regulations.
This change is the result of a court order. It is possible for this ruling to be appealed. STA will communicate any changes as they arise.
Rides for Seniors
Rides for Seniors ends April 30, 2022
This temporary program, was implemented in the spring of 2020 to provide a safe transportation option for seniors during the Coronavirus pandemic. The program was made possible due to a sharp decline in Paratransit ridership during the peak of COVID-19, which resulted in an excess of Paratransit vans and van operators.
Although the program was highly successful, Paratransit’s demand is now returning to normal levels and the vans must be used to meet the transportation needs of our most vulnerable customers.

STA's Enhanced Disinfection Protocols
STA practices enhanced disinfection protocols in all STA facilities and on buses and vans. This includes daily in-route disinfections and nightly in-house disinfection of all STA buses and Paratransit vehicles as follows:
- Using a neutral pH germicidal disinfectant used on all contact surfaces.
- Treating floors with Hi-Con mopping and a hydrofluoric solution.
- Blasting seat cushions with 300-PSI pressurized shampoo at 2000W.

Plaza building engineers continue to use an interior spray disinfectant and an exterior spray disinfectant when temperatures are regularly in the 50s or higher. Interior contact surfaces, including benches, handrails, elevator buttons, vending machines, ATMs, counters, and more, are disinfected three times a day.
Plaza maintenance staff use an effervescent disinfectant to kill germs and viruses and an electro-static mist that bonds the solution to metal surfaces for enhanced protection against germs. Restrooms are deep cleaned daily at 10:00 a.m., 4:00 p.m., and after closing.
